B-E-E the best….


Have you ever thought to yourself, “how does a bee fly?” Its body is too big; its wingspan is too shallow. It really shouldn’t be able to fly, but it does. It does what God has designed it to do!

“You can B-E-E the best.”
Be aware of who you are.
Eliminate the negatives from your mind.
Expect the best from yourself and other people.

These words are from Thelma Wells, founder and president of A Woman of God Ministries, L.L.C.

Thelma explains in the book, A Woman and Her God, about living in the spirit of unity. Rather than expending energy on something we have no control over, rather than disliking somebody because he or she can do something that we can’t do, He wants us to unite our talents as one. God needs you to weave together the people, the plan, the resources, and everything He’s given you, so you can be everything He’s called you to be-living in oneness with your family, oneness with your church.

1 Corinthians 12:26-28, “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.”

Getting back into the routine…

Getting back into a routine after a week of vaca, isn’t easy…but no excuses!

Storing His Word in my Heart and in Picture Frames…

God's WordI have never been able to memorize scriptures. My grandfather was a pastor, I have uncle’s that are pastors, and my brother is an amazing evangelist, but even with all these people in my life, the verses still don’t stick.

I realized if I want to memorize God’s word, I will have to submerse myself in it. I’ve started by printing out scriptures and putting them in picture frames. Each week I print out a new one. These scriptures are the same ones I’m teaching the kids so we can learn them together.

You might ask, Bethany why are you so determined to memorize scriptures. Well that is a whole other blog…but for one there is power in the word of God! When the enemy comes against me, I can remind him the promises God has already spoken over me and second, when my friends are struggling, I am able to speak truth into their confusion.

Here are some tips on memorizing Bible verses:
-Pick out a scripture for the week.
-Write it on Post-It notes. Place them on your mirror in your bathroom, on the fridge, in the laundry room or wherever you go throughout the day.
-Write down your scripture on top of your “To-Do List” for the day. This way every time you look at your list, you can look up at the scripture for the week.
-And last and my favorite, print out the scripture to place in a picture frame. Mine sits right beside the stove. That way I can look at it during breakfast time, lunch, and dinner.

Power Verse:
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Do you want to run fast or far?

“When you run alone, you run fast. But when you run together, you run far.”

By working in a gym for many years, I have seen my share of running groups. What I love about these groups is the support they give. It doesn’t matter if you have never ran a day in your life or if you have run ten marathons, the members of that group are there for each other. At 5am people are waiting on you to go on the morning run and if you don’t show up, you’ll get a phone call wanting to know why. They have a common goal, for each member to grow as an athlete. The members are there to give support, encouragement, advise and most of all to make sure you succeed as a runner.

Who’s on your team? Who knows your dreams? Who knows you well enough to glimpse your potential as it emerges? Who can nurture and encourage you for the distance so that you become the person you were meant to be?

We were not designed to walk this life alone. If you don’t have a close group of friends already, I encourage you to get involved and connected.

*Love one another with brotherly affection. Out do one another in showing honor. Romans 12:10

*Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Proverbs 19:20

*Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

*Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16



I had a refreshing morning just being Bethany! No hats attached (wife,mom,ect…)! Anyone that knows me, knows I don’t like to leave my little ones, but I believe it’s important to get away just for a bit every once in a while. Wearing hats are a beautiful thing, each one helps me to be a better person. They bring happiness and joy into my life, but I must be careful not to lose myself in the midst of all them.20140404-144718.jpg


Commitment more than a Word

“Commitment is more than a word, it’s a choice you make everyday to honor your word.”

Finding people today that stay committed is rare. When things get difficult and adversity comes, most quit…their jobs, friendships, church and even their marriages. Commitment is not for the weak or selfish. Commitment goes beyond our own strength, to stay true to our word we must rely on God for that strength. I guarantee, there will always be opposition, complications, and obstacles that come into your life. I encourage you in those moments to take refuge with your Heavenly Father, ask Him to give you the strength to overcome and stay committed to the decisions you have made.

My husband and I were talking the other day about a couple and then he turned to me and asked, “is there hope for that marriage?” I said, “there’s always hope!” Friend, I know life is difficult at times, but don’t give up! When the clouds look dark on one side, turn to the other side until you find the blue sky…it’s there, it just might take a little time to find it! Take hope in knowing today, God will never give up on you. Pray often, stay committed and believe we are more than conquerors through him that loves us!

I am…

I amYou might say, “Bethany I’m not all these things!” Psalm 139:13-14 says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know that full well.” Friend, you are wonderful! God has designed you to have these qualities and so much more.

There are often days we can have feelings of failure…crumbs are scattered all over the kitchen floor, there’s an avalanche on Mount Everest in your laundry room, and you burned the dinner again for the second time this week. Other times doubt comes in…am I doing a good job, does my husband know I love him, are my children learning anything? These are all thoughts from the enemy. We must take these thoughts captive, then stand strong and speak truth into our life.

When negative thoughts come in, I want you to stand in front of a mirror, pick your head up, bring your shoulders back, look into your eyes and speak the words from the poem “I am”…then believe it.

Failure isn’t Final

Three weeks ago, I applied for a reviewer position for a christian publisher. I was really excited about having the opportunity to receive free books for my children to read, review, and then giveaway to others. After waiting awhile, I received an email from the company letting me know my application was not accepted. To be honest, I was disappointed…I had gotten my hopes up, thinking what a great program this would be for the kids.

At this moment I could accept failure, allow negative thoughts fill my mind or I could work harder and reapply next year.

DSC_0684Believe it or not, there are many positive things that can come out of failure, if you change your mindset. Failure brings about a drive that no one can stop. Failure brings to light your weaknesses. Failure also builds character and makes you stronger.

Have you failed recently? Don’t give up. Push through and watch your failure turn into a testimony of success.

Is it still a deal?

Debt FreeI love bargains! I clip coupons and compare prices for most items and I strive to get the best price when shopping, but sale ads aren’t enticing me anymore. This year my goal is to become credit card debt free again, so no matter how good the sale is, if I have to put it on my credit card, it’s not worth it.

Just think when you purchase an item with your credit card and you don’t pay it off that month, how much is the “sale” price now?! Is it still a deal, most likely not once the interest is tacked on.

We are an instant gratification generation. Why wait when we can have it now.  I’ll tell you why, because you can end up paying $100 dollars for something that only started at $5.

Use discipline and wisdom, make this your year to be credit card debt free! If you can’t pay cash, then you don’t need it!
