Today you turn three! And I’m still amazed I have a little boy. My prayer was to be a mama…Boy or Girl, was never of importance to me, until I had you! You’re a rough, tough, fighting machine, that doesn’t like to share (we’re working on that), but my heart melts every time I look into your big brown eyes.

Thank you God for giving me my own little boy, I pray now that you will give me wisdom in discipling him without crushing him and encouraging him in the gifts you have blessed him with. I also pray your protection over his life, with every step he takes. Guide his decisions and may he grow to be a man after your heart. ~Amen

A’s Luau Party

Aloha!Luau Party
At this Luau Party there was a hurricane, hence the leaning Tiki Hut and Pineapple tree. 🙂 No, really we had an issue with our cake. We actually had to prop it up with plates and candles. A few days later I showed our Publix bakery manager and she gave me a full refund, so would I still recommend Publix? YES! This is the first issue I have had out of the 30 plus cakes I bought over the years.

LuauI picked up these pineapple cups from the Dollar Store. I thought they were the perfect favor for this Hawaiian party.

I also picked up a few fun Luau Costume Props from the Dollar Store, for a fun photo booth.

Here’s my first pineapple tree. Super easy to make, all you need is three to four pineapples and eight to ten skewers sticks. If you plan in advance you can pick up some tree foliage to add to the top. It gives it a better look.

It’s an Incredible Party…Josiah turns Two!

DSC_1383Three months ago my husband and I started thinking about a theme for our little guy’s birthday party. After throwing a couple of ideas around we decided on The Incredibles, mainly because our son loves to run just like Dash from the movie. When we say ready, set, he gets into a running position, as soon as we say GO, he starts running as fast as he can. It’s the cutest thing (in Mama’s eyes)!

CAKE & CUPCAKES
The cupcake stand is from Smart Baker. My sister-in-law introduced me to this company a couple of years back. I waited awhile before purchasing one because of the price. I broke down this month and purchased the 5 Tier Round Cupcake Tower and it’s worth every penny. I recommend this stand to anyone that enjoys hosting parties. This stand is reusable, size adjustable, quality made, multi-purpose, all-occasion Cupcake Stand, Treat Tower, or even great for displaying individual cakes!

FAVORS
For this party I decided to give out Incredible cookies as the favor and there is only one lady that can make a cookie pop, that’s Kim from The Cookie Cutter Creations. Kim, does a great job finding out exactly what you want and putting it on her delicious cookies. If you want to see more of Kim’s work click here and you will be directed to her Cookie Cutter Creations Facebook Page.

SUPERHERO MASKS
Last but not least, I cut out masks from craft wool, and then sewed elastic by hand on each mask. You can find detailed instructions on SlowMama.com, but they were a too much for me, since I haven’t used a sewing machine in twenty years! 🙂

Candy Land Party

Two of my daughter’s birthdays fall within seven days of each other, so we always have their “Big Birthday Party” with family and friends, together. Then on their actual birthday, we do something special just for them. In the past, I would have them pick out their own themes. One might have Dora and the other might choose Cinderella, but this year I asked them if it was okay if I surprised them with the theme. After searching around, I came up with Candy Land…the perfect theme for my two, sweet, loving girls.

Candy Land is not a commercialized theme, like Disney Princesses or Dora the Explorer, so I had to get creative if I wanted decorations for the party.

First Project: Dum Dum Pops Centerpieces.

Dum Dums

Items Needed:
– Styrofoam Balls (Wal-Mart)
– Large Bag of Dum Dum Pops (Wal-Mart)
– Sharp Scissors
– A container to put your masterpiece on (glass vase, flower-pot, sand castle beach pal, etc…)

*I first cut all the pop sticks in half, then placed and arranged them from the top to the bottom. There were a couple that weren’t cooperating, so I hot glued them.

Second Project: Gum Drop Tree

Gum Drop Tree Items Needed:
– Gum Drops (Wal-Mart)
– Styrofoam Cone (Wal-Mart)
– Toothpicks
– Scissors

*I first cut all the tooth picks in half. The top four Gum Drops I hot glued to place them exactly where I wanted them. The rest I placed a toothpick into the Gum Drop then pushed into the cone.

I also made cute balloon decorations. Hellobee.com tells you step by step how to make them. Click here to go directly to the site.

Instead of making goodie bags, I purchased these reusable glass candy jars to hand out as favors to all the friends that attended the party.
